Assisting members in digitizing collections.
Assisting members in preparing existing digital collections.
Developing guidelines for participation.
Hosting workshops, webcasts, and provide one-on-one consultations for existing and potential regional partners.
PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage collection development and set priorities
for digitization of resources. -
Secure funding for digitization of their resources.

Digitize resources into acceptable format(s)
following ESDN standards. -
Assure and clearly designate usage rights.

Assure privacy and other legal considerations.

Assign metadata according to requirements and
standards established by the ESDN. -
Notify ESDN when new collections are ready
for harvest and promotion.

PERSONNEL | SKILLS
TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST | SKILLS
- Experience with standard software and web application development tools and programming languages and technologies including JavaScript, Python, JSON, and Ruby.
- Strong working knowledge of XML (XPath/XQuery) and XSLT required.
- Knowledge of library practices and data formats including XML, OAI-PMH, MODS, MARC, and Dublin Core.
- Experience installing and configuring open-source software tools relevant to LAMs digital collections and specifically to databases and repositories.
- Ability to administer PHP/MySQL applications.
- Experience working with version control systems.
PROJECT MANAGER | SKILLS
- Proven proficiency in project management, communication and outreach activities, event planning, and grant writing.
- Experience working in a library, archive, cultural heritage organization, or affiliated educational, non-profit, or professional organization.
- Experience coordinating the activities of a small team toward discrete goals.
- Experience with digital projects and knowledge of trends and best practices in the field of information management.
- Knowledge of current technologies and metadata standards and practices (i.e. DC, MODS, OAI-PMH, metadata mapping) in libraries and archives.
- Professional experience building institutional relationships.
METADATA SPECIALIST | SKILLS
- Practical experience with all aspects of metadata creation including selection and implementation of metadata standards, quality control, and crosswalking/mapping data sets.
- Demonstrable knowledge of metadata standards including DC, MODS, METS, MARC, MARCXML, PBCORE
- Experience working with protocols and data models such as OAI-PMH, OAI-ORE, ResourceSync, Europeana Data Model (EDM), DPLA MAP, Linked Open Data, RDF.
- Familiarity with traditional cataloging practice and rules such as AACR2 and RDA.
- Familiarity with one or more scripting languages and APIs.
