Evaluation Question: 3
How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
This subject at first was giving me a really hard time in terms of course work; theory was going great but I was really weak with IT and was totally clueless about photoshop , but as time passed by I eventually got a really good grip on the technical aspects of the subject I have not only been able increase my knowledge but also I got a hang of having good production skills of print media.
This subject definitely helped me get out of my cry baby phase while working on photoshop and helped me gain confidence. While creating my own project, I got the chance to experiment around with different tools, which before yes definitely resulted in the whole thing being messed up a lot times, each time i would try something new I would totally mess it up. But with time I got a hang different tools and managed to finally break out of my comfort zone after a lot of crying and whining, but in the end it was totally 100% worth it.
By the grace of God and after a lot of work I was able to achieve my aim , and now I think I can say that I have seen an increase in my knowledge regarding softwares, ,and yes of course on how to use Photoshop.
For making my magazine, I had to do a lot of on different magazines of the same genre that I chose. I went through their codes and conventions, and found what was commonly found in that genre and what was not. During my preliminary task, I did not delve into such a detailed and time-consuming research. I had only previously analysed some magazines which was the only source of my inspiration. However, for the final task I went through pintrest and Google Images to find inspiration for different kinds of Film and TV magazines. After a lot research I was able to find some decent suitable stuff for my magazine which I could also add in the final project.
One of the most important part of the production was clicking photographs. Before taking this subjects I had no idea of proper photography I was just used to take pictures on my phone, and that mostly being selfies. I had no idea of angles, lighting and framing. As time passed I also learned about different camera rules and angles like the 180-degree rule and the rule of thirds, and different shots and angles like the wide shot, mid shot, close-up, Tilt and Pan etc.
Not to forget Tumblr that had the major role in my project, as I could post everything about the project on the blog. And yes, Thank God it was super easy to use luckily was aware of Tumblr before opting Media. Oh and the best thing was definitely that we could change our blog themes, we had an option to choose themes which was the best part though it was very difficult to choose which theme to go for, also I was happy that not only could we choose a theme of our own choice but we could also customize by changing the color schemes.
I also learned to edit photos taking this subject with the passage of time and yes after a lot of efforts I improved with it. Before taking this subject I just had heard of photoshop, though I before never got a chance to use it. It definitely confusing in the beginning. I used to hesitate when I had to use photoshop as it scared and confused me a lot. But as time passed everything got better as I was starting to get familiar with the software. I also then started to experiment with some of my own pictures or some of my family’s pictures, which also helped me improve.
Thank God for tumblr letting me very long posts; though it used to get stuck sometimes but still at the end of the day I could still complete my work easily. Tumblr also let us add pictures, presentations which yes we had to embed, embeding presentations was also very confusing in the beginning but now its piece of cake.I had a mixture of presentations and blog posts to make my blog look a bit different rather than it being all the same.
