Our task is to create a remake of the opening of a teen film called 'The Breakfast Club.' This film was created in 1985. Within the opening of this film, the typical Teen Film character stereotypes were named directly as the basket case, the princess, the criminal, the brain and the athlete. The basket case usually tends to be portrayed as a character who lacks intelligence and has no hope for the future. The princess is usually illustrated as a character who is spoilt and gains a lot of attention from males. The criminal's characteristics consist of a nonchalant attitude towards education, rules and expectations. The brain is very smart and tends to obsess over education to the extent where his social life is ruined by his educational obsession. The athlete is always very popular in the sports department, however he tends to lack intelligence which he gets away with due to his good looks. 

 The task is to recreate the opening of 'The Breakfast Club' ensuring the shot types and movement are replicated precisely. However, the props used in the original, e.g. cars, a criminal, a woman driving a car, etc. are not accessible for us so we have to improvise using a limited amount of resources and other limitations, e.g. toy cars instead of real cars, girlish sunglasses worn by a male in order to portray the princess' character as not all girls are comfortable with acting in front of the camera, a figrig as a steering wheel as we don't have any real cars. 

Due to numerous limitations in terms of replicating the exact same props used in the original opening, we are going to improvise with our limited resources. We also aren't able to copy the exact same mode of transport as we don't have access to four different cars.

Instead of using a real car, we will use a toy car. This won't be difficult as long shots were used on the cars in the original opening, therefore the long shots won't highlight the fact that we're using toy cars.

Instead of using a real steering wheel, we will use a fig rig.

Instead of having a girl to portray the character of the princess, we will use a male.

The shot by shot remake will be filmed outside of City and Islington College as the original opening is filmed outside of a high school. This college is the only school accessible to all the group members as we all attend this college. 

We will also be filming inside of the college as the high school have similar props to our college. For example, pin board in the corridor, clock in the class, empty corridors (during lessons), etc.

The brain - As the brain's character is conventionally 'nerdy' we decided to dress him neatly in a shirt and tight trousers as he is well presented and is a teacher's pet. The princess - The princess will be wearing big, pink glasses as a symbol of her family's wealth and as an element of her obsessive need to shop which is hinted during the original opening. The criminal - As the criminal has a nonchalant behaviour, we decided to dress him in a way that connotes an apathetic attitude towards what he wears so we decided to dress him messily and in dark colours as a symbol of his criminal activity. The basket case - The basket case comes from a wealthy family so we decided to dress her in nice, pastel coloured clothes. However, due to her lack of intelligence, she will be wearing her clothes wrongly. E.g. she missed a button on her shirt. The athlete - We decided to dress him in a dirty jersey to convey his rough, athletic nature.
